Angry blew it up today

So i was runnin down the road today... and long story short i was runnin about 3500 rpm and all of the sudden i heard a big boom and heard parts of my motor hittin the ground. i shut her down due to a huge cloud of smoke and loud noises and coasted to a stop. i knew it was gonna be bad. i walked back up the road and there was oil all down it and half of a piston in the middle of the road. i have a huge hole right above my starter and a smaller hole on the otherside about the same distance back. its pretty bad cause i cant even budge my dipstick and i can see straight to my cam. i guess the only thing to do is go bigger and better with it now, but im gonna pull the motor out on monday to see what kind of paper weights and goodies i can find in the oil pan. my engine mods are full bolt ons, MS4, prc stage 1 ls6 heads, and of course... stock bottom end.

I'm sorry to hear that man. I recently totaled my Mustang and I know how losing something feels like. BUT, everything happens for a reason (i.e. something bigger and badder will replace your blown motor!)

What mods did the engine have, if any?

ahh yes the best news ever!! now you have an excuse to go with a big bore stroker . I took mine out at a GM event, 132 car field and i was in the final 4 when i was racing a vette and spun a rod bearing. I didnt know untill i was a second slowwer than my dial and my car stalled at the other end. Good luck with the rebirth i hope you go with something nasty!

Damn! what the hell is making these engines blow all the time? Is it just from the higher RPM that we spin them to because of cams or what?

ya it was tuned right, ran like a scalded *** raped ape. i dont think it was a rod bearing cause there was no knocking or anything like that. i think i just straight up brock a rod and sent it through the side of the block. monday ill find out, it all depends on what those rod bolts look like im thinkin.

High miles, High RPM, High HP, and lots of abuse = Failure.

Dude, that totally sucks. My condolences on the loss of your motor.
But like everyone else said before me time to go bigger and better! Personally when mine goes I like to dream of getting a 454 LSX.

Metal is like a woman. It never forgets everything you put it through, and it will never let you know it until it just snaps.

If your ready for a new engine we can help you right out with a 408 that will rip up the pavement. It will take all you ls1 covers and as such is IMO the best bang for the buck right now. We use Callies crank and rods and Wiseco pistons, ACL race main and coated rod bearings and ARP. Balanced and blueprinted for $4374. If you want to save a few buck we offer the same short block for $250 less using a Scat crank and Eagle rods. Sending you a pm as well. We can also make that a long block for you with TFS, ET, All Pro, AFR, Edelbrocks or ported OEM heads and a custom ground cam.

My condolences for your loss.

PIX man. Would love to see pix of the busted piston in the road! Even a cellphone picture.

I'm sure your new combo will rock.
