5.3 heads on ls1 aight im jumpin around again on what i wanna do boost or NA CHEAP??
i have a set of 317 heads that i got for 40 bucks, i can get a set of 5.3 heads also for 40 bucks
my ??? is if i snatched those heads up and did some hand porting would it be benificial to put on my car with a 224 226 562 564 @114 cam
if so would there be decent gains, for some reason i really really really hate 241's why i dont know lol i just dont like em.
so what should i do with what i got

the 5.3 are good for nothing more than cores, or if u need an emergency head
sell the 317's and offset the price of another mod with the profit made.
or mill the 317's .030 and install on your ls1
the 241 heads flow better than the 5.3 heads and have a 2.00 intake
5.3 heads have a 1.89 intake valve
all use same 1.55 exhaust valves

basically what would the results be GOOD OR BAD this is how i learn
like power ratings GOOD OR BAD what could i do with either head ya kno the " cool" stuff
i almost have a endless supply of stuff like these heads
i would have had a 6.0 but the starter was bent therefore bend the block with a lil crack

I'm running port/polished stock cast 5.3 heads milled .018" with the bigger 241 head valves & I'm perfectly happy. Especially for the money I have in my heads compared to buying a brand new set.
Using the 5.3's will bump the compression & milling them will bump it even more. I have plenty of toqrue down low & they flow great to .590" lift which is perfect for me since my 224 cam has a .581" lift on each side.
