i wanted to know how much does an LS1 short block weight, and where can i get a good cost to ship it..like im asking which will be a good delivery company, UPS, FEDEX, rtc, etc..anything will be helpfull..thanks
Shortblock will only be the block, crank, rods, and pistons really so it's not much heavier than the bare block. A longblock will weigh a lot more though. Depends on what the interals are also.

never done any sort of shipping before, will it be cheaper if its through crate or pallet? if so how much weight do i need to have to ship it out on pallet of freight? the reason for my ship is that im moving from cali to tx and i was gonna drive my camaro out that way and i dont have much close with me so i was thinking of finding a way to put it in my car and drive out to tx with the short block in the car...
Your trying to put a shortblock into a Camaro as cargo??? Maybe an earlier year with a trunk but unless your leaving the hatch open or removing the passenger seat I dont see it happening. Plus you'll ruin the interior of the car.
It needs to go freight unless you rent a pickup and tow the Camaro.
Also try craigslist and see if anyone has cargo space, call around to local freight companies and see what they can do for you as well. They like to fill the trailers, more economical for them. Call a few trucking companies in your area and see who's got freight going to DFW and has room. You want to strap it to a pallet, we use and engine stand and build a crate for it as well but thats our finished short and long block we're shipping.

i think if fits if i bring the back seat down, i already took the whole block apart and dont have clothes to tke with me either, so i was thinking i can fit it in the back seat when its folded down, the oil pan wont be attached to the block, pretty much its a whole long block dissasembled and trying to fit it in my fbody..but im gonna try and call around to see who will ship out the crate or my whole damm car out to dfw
