shortmotor build up- any tips?
i've ordered a new ls6 shortmotor and am looking for any tips or pointers i need to be aware of when swapping over my heads from my old ls1 to the new engine.
basically my old bottom end is wrecked. i intend re-using my heads (stock) and cam (if re-useable), water pump and front/rear covers with new gaskets.
the new short motor is a brand new block, crank, forged pistons/rods, new ls7 lifters/trays, new oil pump. will be supplied with arp rod/main bolts etc all built up ready for my heads.
i have new GM head gaskets coming, new oil seals for the front/rear covers.
i've read a recent thread mentioning aligning the oil holes in the lifters to suit the galleries they sit in, which i wasnt aware of till then, and i'm aware of the oil gallery plugs needing to be correctly fitted etc, but are there any other tips i need to be aware of? i'm fairly confident i can swap heads over ok, but dont want to miss anything "not so obvious".
cheers if so.
