what cam is this? and what went wrong with it. with pic's
I have a 2004 gto at my work we took in on trade i did the uci and heard a ticking from the motor and it sounded bad. drained oil only got 4 qt's with filter. added some 0-40 sounded a little better but on the test drive the check engine light came on. checked oil all good but motor had low oil psi. well they told me to ripp it down and see what i find. Well pulled the heads pan cap's and oil pump and cam and found that the cam is breaking apart flaking apart at the top of the lobe and the lifters are okay but the roller's for the lifters are junk. what did this to this cam here;s some pics

And also i want to know what this cam was spec's and all so i can get the same one or one close to it. On the back it has LS13722R/3722R HR114 D8239-05. the motor had comp 7.4 push rods and i dunno what the springs are but they are dual springs

224/224 .581/.581 114 LSA (probably +4 advance)
Intake lobe 3722R
Exhaust lobe 3722R
114 LSA
110 ICL
The highlighted above is to order another.
The cam was just improperly hardened or oil starved, you'll need to change lifters as well, pay attention to oil pressure.
