I put one in mine with stock block and heads. You need to change the springs. I don't think anyone would try the swap without doing that.

Did you check the PTV clearance? If so, what did you get? I've installed plenty of t-rex's and it is deffinately the biggest cam that will fit without fly cutting. We've never had a customer bend a valve with it, but if you check the clearance you'll deffinately be worried LOL.

Oh yeah, it's tight. But they are just ported stock heads. So if I bend something up, it just gives me more of a reason to build my LSX 454.

sounds like he installed the cam wrong. the Trex is largest in a stock motor. it has around .011 clearence. but does work and make some serious power. now with a missed shift or over rev a Trex will eyebrow the pistons.

as for the polutter i wouldnt run one till i seen numbers ET examples from it.
now Ms4 is another good cam to run and is a little more tamer then the mighty Trex.

The specs given for the TREX V2 are 242/248 .608/.612 110 LSA...actually the cams come to you slightly bigger. My TREX V2 according to the cam card was actually 243.1/249.5 .613/.619 110.1 LSA. But on bone stock heads with a stock gasket, it will fit. I have seen several run just fine turning up to 6900 rpms with stock heads and pistons, unmilled heads that is.

Mine was actually even bigger than that. 245/ 250. Same lift as you though.

Yeah I made it all up because I have no friends. Hell, I still have a Thunder decal on my windshield thats how much Ive bought from them in the past. We even bought a 224 from Thunder right after the TREx did not work.

And no, my cousins SS did not bend up valves, I made that up too.

They did. He took it to a shop, they changed springs, timing chain, all the necessary stuff. It still bent up his valves. Im not saying it NEVER works, Imsaying make sure your clearances are good so you dont end up in the same boat. Hell I thought any reputable shop would check clearances anyway, but apparently someone at Thunder told the shop owner it would be fine so they tried it.

In fact thats the TRex Im trying to sell in the parts for sale section. The cam has about 5 minutes of use on it.

Again, Im not saying it was Thunders fault, just saying it wont ALWAYS work without a little extra work. Dont mis-read me.

+1 ... I don't know of any reputable shop that would just take someone else's word for something working especially with a PTV clearance issue. It's their *** on the line for the installation, not whoever designed the cam. Very poor judgement on your shop's part. I'd go after them for the repair of your friends car.
