Mine isn't bad at all. 2.02/1.57 int/exh(Revs). Comp 918s and 7.350 prs. Ti retainers.
239/251,106lsa, 0.570".
Yella Terras. LG Longtubes.
Sounds like a SBC with a decent size solid lifter cam.
Above 3 grand all I hear is a howling scream. I can put up with ticking- glad to hear it's normal. Thanks.

Great info here, thanks guys.

One question, I think it was MTI, but maybe another sponsor, that had "XE" something and something lobe profiles...not sure the exact name, but they used to run one profile, then modified it to a fast ramp one, I think, and made tons more power.

Anyway my point is running the old profile would help with the valvetrain noise, at the cost of maybe a few hp. Does anyone know the exact information?

Thanks,

So if its' the valves closing that making all the noise "ting ting" wouldn't the correct way of fixing this be to increase the length of the push rod just enough that it doesn't close the valve 100%? I don't see how the weight of the valve would have any effect on noise... I too suffer from excess valvetrain noise. 98 Vette. 228/228 LT's etc. For example if i go to a fast food joint and need to order. I need to shut my car off so they can hear me. It's not my exhaust thats producing the overwhelming noise but under my hood that is. So either my Headers are echoing in my engine bay too much or the valve train(pretty sure thats the noise maker) is too loud. I had a buddy put in a much larger cam a couple weeks ago in his Z28 and it sounded quiter than my vette

I have a 228/232 with an LSK lobe on the intake, longtubes, patriot dual springs, stock rocker arms.

With LS7 lifters, correct pushrod length, and RP41 oil, I have virtually ZERO valvetrain noise.
