Default Texas Speed trys a texas quick one on me?

I ordered these AFR 205 heads milled to 62cc about three weeks ago. When I ordered them from John Janz, I specifically asked for the 8019 spring upgrade. He said they didn't have any on the shelf with the better springs or any 8019 springs to put on them so he tried to set me up with patriot gold springs good for .650" lift and I politely refused. I said I would rather wait for the 8019 springs. So he said he would have to get the heads directly from AFR and have them drop shipped to me. I said that would work fine. Well I called texas speed a week later and all the sudden the heads were with the order. I was curious what happened there so I was anxious to pull a spring off and see what I have.....

This is a quote directly from Tony @ AFR.

"the only way to know if you have our standard 8017 spring or our upgrade 8019 spring is to actually physically have the spring off the head. If the inner coil is the same length or just a little shorter than the outer coil you know its our standard spring. If the inner coil is about .200 taller than the outer spring you know its our upgrade version and the one you really need for that set-up."

Hope this helps!

Tony

The head is milled so I know these were setup for me but these seem to be the standard springs. Am I missing something here?

Nope, you are right on the money with that one, but I'm sure if you call them up and explain the situation, they will take care of you. Mistakes happen. It is good that you have the patience and attention to detail to catch that.

Nice find. If you hadn't originally been told they didn't have a set with the 8019s, and had the offer made for the other springs in their place, you most likely wouldn't have checked them. That would have sucked.

I'm sure it was a honest mistake. Texas Speed has a pretty good reputation for customer service and they have always done me right. I'm sure they will make everything right for you. Good find though.

I know you ordered the upgraded AFR springs , and you should get what you asked for, but is there a problem with Patriot gold springs. I thought they we supposed to be good springs.

Very good detective work. Your gut feeling was correct about the springs. A texas fast one? Maybe. Try and have TSP just send you the proper inner spring and send the improperly spec'd ones back.

I was just getting a little frustrated... it has almost seemed like I have been babysitting. I had to call them to see what was up with the order to find out that everything was all boxed up and just sitting there. Matt apologized and had it out the door the next day. Then I have been waiting on my cam and decided to check in on it. Turns out the fax somehow got hosed up and the cam hadn't been made yet. SO 2 weeks after the order, the cam specs got sent and I was to have the cam this weekend. Well it is going to show up Monday so I have another weekend gone. They knew I was an LS1 noob... was this by accident? I went with TSP for their great reputation on this site.

Thanks for confirming the springs. I was pretty sure I didn't have the right springs, but figured I better confirm with you all before I called them Monday morning. BTW, I just found this out today so I haven't had a chance to talk with them. I'm sure they will make it right.

How about you get up off your *** and call TSP and stop bitching about the problem on the forum. I'm sure it was a simple miscommunication and they'll be able to help you out. Here's the number, 806-866-0734.

Why is it always just a simple miscommunication when a part is not right or something is done wrong?

Miss this part bud?? Pretty sure I've got their number. I wanted to confirm these were the wrong springs first. Think we accomplished that. As I said before, I will call them first thing Monday to see what we can work out.

like he does not have their number. he said he called them and talked to them i really do not think he needs their number again. Read his post next time. But they are closed today and tomorrow so he is posting here looking for help. Nothing wrong with that. It is not like he said texas speed tried to screw him on purpose.
