I've used the set that came in the engine to measure clearances and then toss those and put in new with GM EOS lube on the threads. Can't beat it. The clamp load of the two studs new v.s. a previously used bolt is marginal at best.

If you replace the OEM bolts with the ARP studs. Do take care to have the engine block's housing bore measured and align honed as needed.

There may be dicrepancies as to whether or not the bolts and studs can be reused. However, I think it's unanimous that if an engine is line honed to have it done with the bolts or studs. Make your decision prior to the line hone and don't decide to upgrade to studs after the line hone is done without having it line honed again. Most machinists would agree with that. The studs put a different load bearing on the caps than the bolts do.

I would use the old bolts to check the clearances with then when you get done checking everything install the new bolts.

Thats how I did it..

TORQUE TO YIELD ARE NOT REUSABLE. You stretch the bolt to the point of no return..
