Yella Terras, worth it or not?
Yella Terras, worth it or not? I have seen dynos that show 2-5 rwhp gains, are they worth it, or are stock rockers fine? Do they fit without any modifications to the heads? I would assume that they are more reliable than stock rockers, but if a stock rocker is 1.7, and a YT is a 1.7, where is more power to be gained? Or do stockers not consistently have 1.7 ratio? Do they flex at high RPMs and have, say 1.65 or something like that? Basically what are the pros and cons of the YTs, (Other than the $500 pricetag) Shawn

THe 2-5hp are within the 1% variations a carefull chasis dyno will show run to run, so I'm skeptical of much hp gain.
They are stronger by a hair, stiffer, and the bearings won't break as stockers do ocassionally. The ratio is also more accurate. Plus they look nice.

Do a search and you will find more info and opinions than you could ever want. I replaced mine to minimize stress on the valvetrain. I wanted a complete roller setup with strong rockers. I have seen 750hp LS1's with stock rockers and they run fine. Roller valvetrains were developed for a reason, less friction, less flex means more power. How much power is hard to say, but when everything works together the power will be there. I believe Speed Demon ran stock rockers on a dyno and immediately swapped to the Yella Terras and picked up 5-10. I'm not positive on the #'s but do a search and your find it.

If the choice is betwen the stockers and the YTs, then the YTs are better... now for the money ~$450.. I would do the new Crane Pro Mag 1.7 rockers for the LSx. They are stronger than stock, have 5% less weight at the valve than most aluminum rockers, cromemoly steel, so they are light, lifetime warrenty againt breakage, REBUILDABLE and the best part..... adjustable!!. They also cost less than the YTs

Who sells those Crane Pro Mag Rockers ?
Do you have a Part number for the Ls1 1.7 rocker ?
I find this out after buying a set of YT 's ..
How much cheaper are we talking ?

I didn't gain any power from my YT's.. but I feel better about whats going on under my valve covers now. And I did notice a SLIGHT decrease in valvetrain noise.

Those kits are still on backorder from what I've been told. Won't ship until late sept. They are going for $498.

If i was to change out the rockers, I would just go with a set of shaft mounts, and if was to go with a set sof shaft mounts, it would be the Comps. Theyre a lil pricey, but if you have the money to throw at em go right ahead.

They are not Crane Pro magnums, they are Comps. Either YT's or comps will give more bearing reliability, but i disagree that stockers deflect or bend and give up lift.
They are of rigid design, and it would be very hard for any of these aftermarket rockers to be lighter than stockers, dont kid yourselves, just like many of the factory parts on these cars, stock is fastest, lightest. Example:oem driveshaft, 10 bolt rear, stock pushrods, connecting rods. There is advantages to light duty OEM parts, just some risk involved in keeping them around when you make good
power.

You can trust all the stock parts you want, but check out the GREAT reliability!! Stock 10 bolt... Stock hydrolics.... lets not forget about those great stock rockers that like to spew pretty needle bearing in your motor
