Default is it ok to use 87 octane in my 8.5:1 motor?

It's also running low timeing. Does 87 octane have something in it that is not desireable for the ls1 or is it simply an octane difference from 93 octane to regular?

The only reason LS1s are run on premium fuel is because of the 10.1:1 compression. You should be fine unless running a power adder.

IU was thinking the same thing yesterday: Turn my boost down to 2psi and run 87octane on my 9.0:1 motor.

a $32 gas bill sucks
