A lot has to do with whether the car is an M6 or A4. With the M6 you will do great with a TR224 whether it's the 112 or the 114 even without tuning. With the A4 better get the 114 and plan on a lot of tuning.
This is what swayed me to go the Head/Cam route. If I had the A4, I would've leaned towards the ATI....

I'll post my reaction when I get my Comp 224 581 112 in. Woo hoo!

i love my 224/114 on M6 car
from the very first time we installed it it idles absolutely perfect!

After tunning we also raised the idle to 900 just to make sure that i won't get any misfire codes...

love the came all around!

I think this is the cam I'm going with too, but can someone tell me the real difference in these two cams for an M6? Such as where does the 224 114 cam make power vs. the 224 112?

edit: I just re-read TR's website, and they say that the 112 LSA cam produces better midrange than the 114? Thats really what I'm looking for more than top end. But still whats your all's opinion on where a 112's power is going to be vs. a 114?

THANKS!

The cam is a hoot! Misfire codes are a PIA. I need to get back to Speed Inc for more tuning. I want to make it to the track to see where I am at before tuning though.

i have a comp xer 224/581 114
chose it over tr for lift, as for mid range power
i made better then 305 ft lbs from 2000-6600 rpms
stock pulley, stock tb,
it pulls hard from go to woe
couldn't see the 112 doing much better anywhere in the power band

I love my tr224 112, it has a nice flat tq curve and on stock tuning it never stalls on me. Cold starts are always perfect but I do get some idle bouncing on warm starts but I just let it bounce 2 times and it stables itself out. With tuning many have gotten this cam to stock like driveablility which would be great.

We just installed this cam on my friend's '01 SS. This cam is truely a street friendly cam. We didn't have to drill out the TB blade at all and it idles great at 850 rpm. With about 30 miles on the car after the cam install the computer seemed to adjust for the cam perfectly. Cold and hot starts are no problem at all, and the car comes down to idle from higher rpms with no problems at all. We have no surging or hunting for idle at all. His car is totally untuned except for a raised rev limit with a hypertech. Its a great cam for an M6!! It sounds great even through his stock SLP exhaust with hookers and ORY. I have the same cam in my car as well and had no issues even when I was untuned. It idled with ac on at stoplights all day! Its a great all around cam, I'd highly recommend it for an M6 car!!

I am getting a woody reading all this. Hurry up h/c package, and get here. I need to find a ASP crank pulley to install with everything else. Hopefully LS1 Speed Inc. gets it soon 'cause their prices were the cheapest.

I'm about to explode!

i have the 224/224 114 cam in my A4.

First fireup: idled great for a minute
2mintes later: had to throttle car to keep her running
driving home 30mins: every light I came to it would stall out

raised idle to 850 and drilled TB hole: Still the car would surge on cold and warm starts badly

raised idle to 900: cold starts awesome, some surge on warm starts off and on

1 year later: 1 outta 10 warm starts surge, easily fixed with slight throttle. Cold starts are perfect!

every stop light I comed to it feels like the rear mirror is gonna fall off. 114 idles alot harder than some think. I cant tell the difference in the 112 and my 114 sound wise when i open the cutout.

SES lights: PO300 will need to be turned off or the misfire tables will have to be edited to 32000.

Cams are nice, but you gotta make sure you can handle the surge you get sometimes on warm starts/cold ones also, the herky jerky crap around town in the 25-50mph range when letting off the gas, and the shakey idle at every light you come to. Everyones definition of no issues or perfectly streetable is different from others. Sometimes I get sick of my 224 114 cam, but other times I love it. As for the 112 maybe making more power.. i dunno, my 114 does just fine at the track

good luck and happy cammin
I got lucky then because I run my idle @ 775 with no issues.

My TR 224/224 Cam goes in tomorrow. I have some questions though and a few things i would like to point out about the cam. My actual Cam specs are as follows

224.7/224.2 .563/.561 111.1 LSA

As you see i got a tad bit more duration then stated, a little less lift on the exhaust, and my LSA is almost a full digit lower. There was a guy that got his cam around the same day as me. his LSA was 112.7

I was just wanting to put this out and see how big of a difference i am going to see by having a 111.1 LSA versus a 112.7 LSA. Where do u think i will see my power? i have a 3.73 gear. Thanks

Scoobs,
I take it you didn't need any help? Didn't hear from ya. As far as the 111 compard to the 112.7, your cam will idle rougher and have a little more midrange. It will also peak alittle sooner, but not by much.

Cal,
Did your car have any stalling or hard idle issues with the 114 before tuning?
No, but with the A/C on and coming to a quick stop it sounded like it wanted to stall before tuning, but now all is well. Never did have the hard starting hot or cold like some people. Also never have thrown a missfire code even once, even before tuning. I've done quite a bit of tuning just to optimize it, but none of it was absolutely necessary.
