Good Camshaft to get
Just got a totally stock A4 TA. I want a camshaft with a lope and lots of power. What else will need to do for engine work to make sure no damage is done with cam. Also I am wanting to get some heads beut have not heard of anyone in particular that has the best ones. I dont want to do the heads more then once. I was thinking a stage II or stage III heads.
My mods will include:
FLP headers, Catback exhaust, eventually NOS/Supercharger
Thanks in advance
Mike
It's hard to go wrong with a 220 to 224 sized cam.
Read up on the basic cam stuff on this site.

You'll also need new springs and pushrods.
Might want to think in terms of spending a ~$1000 to do the new cam unless you do the work yourself. Most cam kit's will hit you for ~$650 and installs from $350 to $500
Tuning would be nice also
Reading up on the cam threads in this section will help get you to gain insight about LS1 cams. A few searchs will also turn up lots of reading.
I would suggest a aftermarket torque converter and sticky tires before even considering a cam for an A4 car.
figure this
cam + springs + retainers + pushrods + double timing chain(stupid not to replace it at the same time)+ upgraded oil pump(again you're already there...5 more bolts and piece of mind)+ maybe 160 thermostat + TUNING(to get the best out of it
and figure on custom tuning being $450 bucks....
Figure more like $2000 if you do all that and have somebody else install it and tune it.
GoodLuck in your search

See the little ~ means approximate or about.
While it's better to do the new chain, oil pump & tune it isn't absolutely necessary.
