lq4 with 140k, what do I need 4 rebuild
So I just picked up this 2000 Lq4 block with 140k on it. I was planning to race this motor , so i wanted to freshin it up a bit. Do you guys recomed just changing the main bearings, piston rings and rod bolts? Or should i do a whole rebuild, where I bore the block out and everything? Any feed back is appricated, thanx!

I thing that depends on what your expecting for HP numbers.. are you going to spray or FI it ?
Just doing a quick refresh or a H/C setup, I think you will be ok as long as your not trying to go over 400-425 (?)... anything over the 425+ numbers, I would suggest new pistons and getting the rotating assembly re-balanced. If your going to spray or FI it.. forged lower end.
My .02 cents

use a bleed down gauge to check ring and valve seal, look at bearings and see what they look like. depends on how hard ur gonna push it but with those kind of miles i would think that at least rod bolts, oil pump and a light hone with new rings, bearings and gaskets would b a good idea.
