Default 5.3 iron block to 4.030 bore?

I know a couple of people have opened the 5.3 blocks up to 3.905 bore with success. Has anyone attempted to take one to 4.030? Is it possible?

I have seen a few posts saying it has been done, but I have seen alot more saying it ain't possible. You could have it sonic tested to see just how much meat there actually is. It would have to be a pretty substantial amount to allow boring out 0.251".

it would be cheaper to buy the 6.0 block, even if it can be done by the time you get it bored out that far you will be a couple 100 in labor alone if not more.

^^^Agreed. I picked up a lq4 shortblock minus 2 rods/pistons for $200.

I would have to say it isnt possible. I had a 4.8 block (same block as 5.3) bored out to 3.898 and it looks thin already.
