Default Best or Better heads

I am running a big cam [ 646 lift ] and was wondering if it would be worth it to Port the stock heads or go with a different set . My car is a 05 A/4 making over 400RWHP and 435 RWTQ. on a Mustang Dyno Mods in my signature below.

P.S Does anyone know the combustion chamber size of the stockers.

THANKS.

JOHN

The LS2 has a 4" bore. The stock heads are (from what I've read) as good as or the same as the LS6 243 cast heads. If you really wanted to wake up that cam I would go with a set of Trick flow or AFR heads. You really can't go wrong with either one!! I have the trick flow heads and love'em

If you have the right person port the heads they will definitely make more power.

My Speed shop just installed a FAST 92 and Ported and polished the stock heads on another 05 GTO and gained a whopping 80 HP including tune. I am going to get my heads ported. It is going in the shop next Wednesday

Thanks. I will post some before and after info when it is done. If I drop it off next Wednesday they said I should have it back in about 3 days or so.

P.S They just ported the stock heads on a new STOCK Pontiac G8 with a CAI only. The Port job gained them over 40 RWHP and this is on a Mustang Dyno

I have a Pro Products 96 MM Typhoon intake on my car now and they are going to port that also when they do the heads. Right now I am at 400+ RWHP and 435 RWTQ with my 05 A/4 on a Mustang Dyno. Porting the heads and intake should really wake this motor up.

I gained a honest 15 RWHP and 20 RWTQ across the board with my Typhoon intake with out a tune. Not to shabby for a under $500.00 investment including new fuel rails and braided lines

Default Best or Better heads

The porting of my heads and intake are complete. The shop called me today. They did not get the car on a Dyno yet because there was another one tied up on their machine. They did take it out for a drive and street tune . Told me the car feels like it made more power everywhere , especially in the mid range. My car is a A/4 [ realy just a cam only car ] and it already makes 435 RWTQ on a Mustang Dyno in the Mid range so it will be interesting what she has now.
