Default Pulling the oil pan!

Hello All,
I need to pull the oil pan on my Trans Am. I currently have a UMI Tubular K-member, and I'm just wondering if anyone has been successful in pulling the oil pan without having to prop up the motor. There appears to be a good amount of space to be able to drop the pan out with the tubular K-member, but just checking in here to see if anyone has actually done it!

Thanks!
Adrian

I think to clear the counterweights on the crank you still have to drop the K member a little bit. Less than an inch! Should be much easier to reach around to them MMs with a tubular K member though!

The windage tray will take care of that, I'm more concerned with how far down the pick up, and back the pick up goes, to allow the pan to drop out step by step.

Haans, had to change the pan on my 427 last year because it was cracked. Don't have to drop the crossmember.............just loosen the bolts as far out as you can to the end of the threads and it will fanagle out of there. Good luck! Oh, and I also have a UMI K-member on a Trans Am just like you. Traver

Hopefully you didn't get any in the oil or the bearings will go bye bye! Good luck and let me know how everything turns out. Traver

even if i had full oil pressure, bearing will still be toast? i did have coolant in my oil. im runin dexcool too, so the only way i knew was condensation on the oil fill cap. i wouldnt have known otherwise. when i changed the oil i did see a lot of gold metallic dust that settled to bottom of my drain pan, thought it was bearing material, but then found my rebuilt rocker bearings were all toast, so i figured it was from that.

are saying that i may have to get my motor rebuilt?

From all the experience I've had with head or intake gaskets leaking it seems to be the norm that once it has reached your bearings that in very short time they'll be toast. Antifreeze eats bearings in very short order. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but maybe you'll get lucky!? Traver

Well, I don't have nearly any money to have it rebuilt, so I would probably just run it till it spins a bearing or something, i'm so tired of working on this f'ing thing.

Anyway to replace bearings from underneath the car? Would you recommend I pull a main cap and see what the bearings look like? I've never tore this far into a motor before.
