I just want a mild street car that will get me to work and back every day. I would like to keep the ls1 block. I thought the ls1 blocks hold up for 600+ hp. Im only looking for about 400-450 once I get the heads done later on in the future.

im sure you "would" be able to run your stock heads. but like you, i also have the 98 heads. and they are gonna hold you back a lot. so during your rebuild, i would throw some new heads on. they dont have to be brand new, but they need to be better than the stock 98. maybe even get someone to port yours if you dont want to buy new ones. i was gonna do that, but i have a couple stripped holes in my heads, so i went with a set of used prc stage 1 ls6 heads with prc dual springs, they sell for 1300 and i got them on here for 900. good luck brother.
