i know dart makes a nice head but those really aren't in my price range. and considering that my cam has .581/.592 lift i dont know that i would really even take advantage of what they have to offer. Besides that...u say the dart heads flow 313cfm out of the box...the PRC 5.3 Stg.2 heads flow 312cfm out of the box.

as for livernois, i haven't really heard too much about them...i know they are a sponsor on here. i just may have to check them out...

it looks Livernois has heads for a reasonable price aswell. i appreciate all of the input so far guys but i really want some suggestions based on "technical" information. im just afraid of tossing on the wrong heads and being dissapointed with the results.

IMO that extra few CFM isnt worth the price. If you plan on porting them that would be a different story...

I spent $1000 shipped for Patriot Stg 1 243s. Their flow chart showed just over 300 @ .600 and I made 434hp through an M6. It actually made 442 but to be safe it was dialed back just a bit so I wouldn't run out of injector (stock injectors). So with nothing else changed just the heads, I picked up damn near 50hp with the Patriots.

thats what i keep hearing. im sure the numbers will be fairly promising with whatever I end up choosing. any of these 5.3head/small cam combos have some promising track times to back up the numbers?

PRC heads will make a good 8-15 more wheel hp then PP! The dart heads he was talking about flowing 313cfm@.600 lift flow that unported is what he means. The patriot's flow low 300's and PRC heads flow 312cfm @ .600 lift. I personally like the PRC 5.3 heads. I have installed them on alot of cars and all the cars made over 430whp! and a max of 470whp with a bigger cam then you and on a fast 90/90

Livernois here, I have had nothing but good results with them.

Why not run an ls6 milled to 59cc? usually the only reason people make more power on a 5.3 head is the added compression, a milled 243 does the same thing with better flow...

isnt the port velocity on the 5.3's supposed to be what makes them shine? i know it raises the compression, but flow numbers and compression are not all there are to a good pair of heads.

Hey buddy I have a set of brand new PRC stage 2.5 5.3L heads from Texas Speed for sale right now for $1000 shipped. You can check out my thread in the for sale section. These are brand new and only taken out of the box for pictures. $1000 shipped takes them!!

Not sure which are better, but I will let you know what I just recently saw:

At the shop that I do my car work, there is a 98 TA. I have an '01 Z28 btw. I had my car in there for heads/cam/headers and others to go along with the swap (valvetrain stuff, thermostat, fuel pump, etc.) I didn't put up huge numbers, around 390 RWHP and 375 TQ. I was disappointed, so I went and added the larger ratio roller rockers, injectors, and the ported 92/92 combo. This got me to around 410 RWHP and 390 TQ. I was still not very happy.

I had seen this silver TA in the shop a few times while I was there. He was having heads/cam +others done also. A few months behind me, but I kept an eye on it to see the power output.

I did the Patriot LS6 style milled to 59cc with a 222/224 .566/.568 cam (wanted bigger, long story...). He had the TSP 5.3's and the 228R cam. He also swapped to the LS6 intake, which I already had.

Anyways, I am always at the shop shooting the **** and what-not. Turns out his car put down less power than mine did on the dyno. We are both M6 cars too. This dyno is one of the original few dynojets, before they started "tweaking" them. This one reads much lower than the "newer" dynojets (atleast that is what I've been told...). He was around the 375 RWHP mark. Not sure where the torque was exactly, but not higher than mine.

I also had bigger wheels and a system in the car adding to the weight (not sure if that affected the numbers at all).

Just some food for thought. Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps.

^^^I don't see why not. Just make sure your cam isn't too aggressive if your using larger ratio rockers
