I found this thread and was wondering if it was correct. I am planning wswapping in a 6.0 lq4 for my ls1.

That is correct, the pre '02 6.0's had a thicker flange on the crankshaft. They will not work with a t56 or 4l60e. You can use any ls1/ls6 crank with a 24t reluctor wheel in that block though. You may be able to have a machine shop mill the rear flange to the correct thickness, but it may be more cost effective to just pick up another crank. The lq4 I picked up for my 370 build was an '01 and had the thicker crank......so I picked up a low mile ls6 crank for $150.

In 2001 (possibly late 2001) and up, the 6.0L (LQ4) had the same crank as the LS1. Take a (good) picture of it and posted to verify. 1999-2000 had a spacer on the flange to mate up to the 4L80 using a conventional SBC converter. In 2001 they introduced the LQ9 with aluminum 317, at which time the LQ4 also changed over to the 317. 1999-2000 LQ4 had iron heads.

Yea Im just trying to figure out if I want to go ahead and add some forged pistons and rods or just change the oil pump and add good rod bolts now. I pulled the rod caps and checked the bearing they all looked good so all i should have to do is add good rod bolts and let it eat.
