Default afr 225 346ci 500hp can it happen?

I have a question that a lot of people might of asked but I could not really find anything on this setup. I am planning on doing a stroker kit in the future. I ordered the afr225 mainly for the spings that came on it but I noticed they flowed a little more. I am going to run an ms4 cam in it. Will I have ptv issues. I can exchange them but I am looking to hopefully turn out 500whp. The setup will be fast92/92,afr 225's, ms4, ls7 lifters, hardened pushrods(texas-speed), cutouts do you think 500hp is an option and I am concerned with the ptv issues. I just want to see how far I can push the 346ci before I go bigger. Any help would be great. Thanks!

You will have ptv issues with those heads and your cam. You can flycut your pistons to resolve that though. I would have suggested that you went with the 205s though. You get a lot more power under the curve with the smaller high velocity port with smaller cubes. Now if you are planning to go with a larger cube stroker later, then the 225s will probably be fine. Save you from buying another set of heads later.

This is an excellent read: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...&highlight=500 Lots of good information about the 205s.

how much more would the afr 205s put down. If it is small numbers than screw it. I know I want a stroker in the future. Whatever I do its probably going to be all motor maybe some juice.. How do you flycut the pistons. Wouldnt that reduce compression. The afr 225 are already 72cc combustion chambers. I figured the afr 225 would fit an ms4 better than the 205's . Those heads seem like they would like the .600 lift more. Maybe not as big of a cam. But I really dont want to drop 2200 again if you know what I mean.

yea I switched to the ls6 stage 1 heads for now. I figure with that cam it would make good power along with the fast 92/92. I dont know well see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

If you have not put money down yet maybe you should consider the prc 5.3 heads and ms3 cam combo. No flycutting. Likely a little more power due to higher compression.

500 rwhp .... you have a tall order in front of you. Thats gonna require every bolt on known to man and the best that money can buy. Only a few have done it and Im not convinced that they could repeat the numbers on someone elses dyno.

You are looking at:

-pro ported fast 92
-afr or tfs heads that have been "worked over" (hand finished & milled)
-high 230 intake / low 240 exhaust cam with .600+ lift (no need for monster)
l-longtubes with ory with a big merge with either a cutout or a very free flowing exhaust
-electric water pump
-underdrive pulley
-lid

Im sure Im missing a thing or two, but even with all of this you are probably looking at 475 rwhp real world.

Good luck

should not have left other heads out but those seem to be the most popular
