Default cam choices

so im looking into doing a cam only setup in the near future and have done plenty of reasearch, just looking for your opinions on what i should go with..

i plan to have these mods before the cam-
lid-
catback-
lt's and ORY-
3800-4k stall-
3.73's-
bfg dr's-

and my car is an a4 00 WS6

im looking for a rough choppy nasty idle but still want a decent powerband and driveability, also in the more distant future i may want to go with heads and other mods for the cam, so i dont plan to be cam only forever...

so far im looking the hardest at the ms3 cam...what do you guys think?

i think you have a 323 gear car so the gears are fine. i think you need to go to a 4400 stall. i think you need to get m/t et street DRs instead of the bfg drag radials. everything else looks good.

cam: T-REX.

i was initially gonna go with the t-rex cam cuz it was big, bad, and the sound is amazing. but i want a good street racing cam and after a lot...A LOT...of research, i realized it wasnt best suited for my needs. so im goin with the vengeance racing VRx4. the power starts at around 1900 or so, as opposed to the t-rex starting around 3500. i hear a lot of smaller cams can beat the bigger cams on the street. and i didnt want to be the guy who gets beat by smaller cams cuz i wanted the biggest and best sounding cam. just do a lot of research and call thunder racing, texas speed, vengeance, etc. like i did. tell them your goals, mods, and all that **** and they will recommend a cam for ya. good luck, this **** gets confusin. haha

yeah i initially thought about the trex hard but i dont want to have to have a 4400 stall to make it driveable, i want a 4k stall max...so shouldnt the ms3 be a good in the middle cam? its powerband is somewhere like 2500-6500 6400 peak...

how is a smaller cam a better "street racing" cam? if anything, i think the smaller cam would only shine at the track and even then only because of a better setup. he is going to stall right past 2k rpm with a 3800+ stall converter. the only time that will matter is after the stall locks up, and these ls1 cams have proven they make no less hp/tq in the low-midrange than the stock one does...and i think the stock cam provides plenty of tq. it's all in the tuning. given properly set up / tuned cars, the big cam is going to win any time, anywhere.
