Default LQ4 max bore question need help****

Can a 6.0L LQ4 iron block be bored to 4.070? Is it possible, has anyone done this???...In another thread while i was searching for answers i saw this
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...t=wiseco+4.060
Weber's said they were working on one for a customer unless i read it wrong. So is it indeed possible to bore to 4.070? Thanks

Well in addition I did some more research here on the forum saw some guys back on 2002 running 4.060 with 250 shots, if in fact you were able to go to a 4.070 could you still run a decent shot on it?

Well you will have to get the block sonic tested. When you do this you will have the measurements you need to determine whether it will work or not. Each block is different.

You already got your answer right above. Every block is different and nobody will be able to tell you if the one you have can go .070" over without sonic testing it first, so take it to a machine shop & find out.

We sonic test every block that might be a candidate for a 4.070 bore. I must say we have had very good luck with all of new blocks we recieve from GM Performance Parts check out ok.

What do you mean by "check out okay"?

There is a tolerance that most abide by. Some say "this" is okay, and some say "no - don't do it".

What wall thickness is "consistent" from GMPP? I had one sonic'd and it was .104 (10 o'clock position) thick. The motor guy said that .090 is a good safe area to be in, which limits me to a .030" max bore per "his" recommendations.

Is there more nickel content in these blocks? Can they handle a thinner wall because the newer blocks are stronger?

Thanks...
