Need cam advice & hp gain info for a streetable LS6 motor...
I've got a 98 WS6 with a 2003 LS6 longblock straight from a Z06. Car has full bolt-ons now and runs great, I can drive it anywhere and still get semi-decent gas mileage. The problem...needs some bigger *****.
It's at a barely tuned 385rwhp/381rwtq and I think it has more in it. I think it could almost push the 400rwhp/tq mark with a good tune, but I'm thinking a cam and tune.
So here's what I'd like...
a mild but streetable cam that'll add as much power as possible without making it sound and run like an animal. I want it so people barely notice there's a cam in it. I also want it to be something that'd go good with a blower if I ever decide to go that route. If I could somehow pull about 450N/A rwhp/tq out of it at the same time that's be ideal!!
If anyone has something similar can you post up a vid so I can hear it. And also, let me know what numbers you make with your setup.
Thanks everybody!!

You need to say more than "I want 450rwhp"
What trans? Gears? Converter (if auto)?
You need a better tuner also it would seem. One of my friends made 405rwhp on a stock longblock ls6 with headers, ory, fast90/nw90 right after it rained in 80+ heat. 6spd through a 9". There are people on here in better altitudes with better dyno conditions that made that much or more with an auto even.

As for drivetrain setup, it's an M6 with a ram powergrip and upgraded slave/master, stock 10 bolt with 3:42's(I know, it's on borrowed time).

i dont know much about blower cams so for what NA's worth i think you should go with a 228/228 .590/.595 with a 115/6 lsa. (pretty much the same specs as TSP's 228r)
i chose such a high lca since you want it to be a sleeper.
a 228 cam shouldnt kill your drivability too much either.
i dont know too much about cams but i think that would compliment your other mods since you have a fast 90/nw90 and pacesetters LT's.
predator-z can spec you a cam much better than i can. or most of the sponsers on here can do the same.

Both the 224R or the 228R camshaft would work really well. Our dyno testing showed 70hp gains from the 224R over a stock LS1 camshaft. It wouldn't be as much when replacing a LS6 cam, but it would still do very well! With either the 224R or the 228R you could run the Comp 26918 spring to save a little bit of cash!
That package is currently on sale with your choice of camshaft!
