Exclamation Need Advice ''what cam'' ?

I have a '99 z,m6 (weekend driving)
car has boltons,mods in sig

I want a cam that gives me good numbers(HP)..I'm planning to stay stock heads so far..until next year..and in the future maybe i'll go with a supercharger...I do some street racing

I may use nos(maybe) not sure

one guy told me to go with 222/228 .571/.578 114º LSA as he said " works well naturally aspirated and work with a centrifugal blower well "

other one said "A 226-234 cam on a 113 LSA would be the best one to run all around"

I dont want to change the cam when it comes to get new Heads..(saving few bucks)

what cam do you guys recommend ?
do I have to change the ls6 to 90 FAST intake ?
one guy told me that a good cam will have an overlap between 1-5 ? is that true ?

Thanks in advance

Contact a professional like Patrick G, Predator-Z, or some sponsors and have them spec a custom cam for your needs. I have a off the shelf cam like many people on this site, but would go custom if I did it again. More overlap will give it that chop sound. Judging by your questions, use the search button and ask someone mentioned above.

^Agreed, both of those two guys know their stuff about cams. I would trust their opinions on my car.

You can get a custom spec.

See my sig, I run a VRx4, 228/230 on a 112 LSA, runs extremely well. Makes just under 400 rwhp through a heavy driveline. Makes for a FUN street car.

Now, here is the trick, you want a good cam that will work NA and then 1 year later on a Supercharger.

224/230 .609/.604 112+2 LSA

That will be the ticket for both, 3* overlap, exhaust biast, 42 IVC (6200 rpm peak with LS6), the XFI lobe will act like a 228 duration on intake. Power range 1800>6600

intake lobe 3015r
Exhaust lobe 3036r
112 LSA
110 ICL

If you like, those are the specs you can give to a shop to get it ground.

See, this is why I should have asked you about what I should do instead of buying an off the shelf cam.

What your asking for is a little bit tricky. It's hard to just make up a cam spec without more information about your current combo & what your boosted combo will look like. I'd be more than happy to help you select a camshaft for your application, but I'd definately need more information before I went spec'ing a camshaft off a couple statements....

Give us a call & we can discuss possible options for you.
