918 Springs - Are there TWO DIFFERENT Versions???????
Are there 2 different versions of 918 springs? Did some come with a Red stripe and did others come with a Blue stripe??? I've heard of the Blue stripe ones but never the Red stripe ones?
If there are 2 versions, is one better than the other?
If not, is the seller maybe incorrect that the red springs he has are not 918's?
Are 918's "very good" springs?
Many thanks!

Everything I've ever read says "blue stripe" is the only ones to have. Period. Go with those. They are a good spring. Don't lift above .600" with them, though. A little less if you're cautious.
Mine were purple stripe lol but they have held up for over a year now and about 14,000k. I am getting them changed soon though with the blu stripes.
918's are a great spring otherwise places like Thunder Racing wouldnt sell them with there Cam Packages. I have them, although i cant talk about longevity with them as i just got them. But after a lot of research, id say you cant go wrong with blue stripe 918's with a small to medium sized cam. Maybe larger.
Thanks for your much appreciated replies guys!

Anyone know if there really are 2 different versions of 918's? Was there ever 918's made with a RED stripe?
If not, is the seller maybe incorrect that the red stripe springs he is selling me may not actually be 918's?

Iv'e never seen red stripe 918s.
They had no colored stripe at all until the blue stripe was introduced by Comp Cams at Thunder Racing's request.
There was a small run of 918s that were breaking. Once identified as a production problem, Comp Cams put a blue stripe on the new ones which assured everyone that these were not the springs found in the small run of bad springs.
Again, Thunder requested Comp Cams to put the blue stripe on them to insure they were not getting springs from the bad batch. They have put the stripe on them ever since.
Thats what I know to be true.
