I really dont know, I had my dad try to look at the lobe as I turned the motor over by hand, he said it felt grooved, dont remember what he had in there to feel.

I would think if I was to even just replace the lifter, the same thing would happen to the new one since it seems like its a Cam issue, I dont want to risk breaking anything else.

how are you gonna get your shavings out? im trying to decide if i wanna pull the motor or dump alot of oil and hope it flushs out of mine, i pulled the heads off of mine 2 nights ago and i had the same problem as you!

Ive got two of them that have done that!! Latest one on right caught it before it got too bad, was the lifter trays went with the ls2 style trays on both and all new ls7 lifters and of course a new cam.
