Default New head question?

lloking to replace my stock ls1 heads and use in combination with my forced induction system, Ive looked at gmpp heads and seem to keep focusing back on lq9 aluminum heads like on 2001+ 6.0 l escalades as they will drop compression for me opening up higher boost ranges or should i look at the aluminum version of the lq4 6.0 truck heads , ive heard the lq9 is comparable to the ls6 head with better intake and exhaust ports and a 72cc combustion chamber , any advise on lq9 vs lq4 .. lq4 seem to be about 400 each and lq9 about 700 each

thanks

Doug

Default Re: New head question?

The LQ9 and LQ4 have the same heads from '01 up.. They are 71.06cc chambered. The main difference between the LQ4 nad LQ9 is the pistons.. The LQ9 had flat top pistons ala LS1. The LQ4 pistons are dished.. Any 317 casting will do..
