Exclamation not pulling the engine

Im looking at putting a ms3 or 4 cam in my car and am worried about putting it in with out pulling the engine. I know it can be done but dont want to end up have a lifter and push rod fall into the engine and then having pull and take the engine apart anyway. And I dont know about a stall either what would anyone suggest

you can use some magnets to hold up the push rods . no need to pull the engine

You'll need a 5/16" dowel rod 48" cut in half to hold up the lifters, pull the radiator and just drop the AC condenser down so that way the cam will clear will you pull it straight out. It's not a big deal...besides, 16 pen magnets get expensive and that's if you can even FIND 16 pen magnets anywhere but the internet.

Not to mention if the magnetic tip gets stuck to the lifter

I did both methods. I found 16 pen magnets at the local parts store for $2 each, and then sold them on ebay for $2.50 each. And the wooden dowl is a good piece of mind.
You will need a pretty big stall for those cams.

I run a TR224-112 in my A4. I ran on the stock stall while I waited for my Fuddle 3400 and it was pretty annoying. The cam felt great on top but it sucked in town. An MS3 or 4 will be miserable without a stall. Probably will not be too great with a stall as a DD. Those are big cams. You honestly would love your car if it is stalled even without a cam. The stock stall is designed for the stock cam. Your cam dictates your stall.

Don't sweat installing one. It's easier, overall, than a cam. I did it myself in around four or five hours... And I honestly did it with one hand and a trans jack..... Of course I do everything with one arm.

Same here. I had dowel rods and couldnt get them to go in at all. So I bit the bullet and none of them fell.

if you grind the end down to a bullet shape and rub assembly lube or oil on them they go right in

spin the cam a couple times then pull it out. the cups will hold the lifters up.

I've done it several times and never had problems. No need to remove the heads.

yes obviously you have to remove the rockers and the pushrods. i am just saying that you dont need to do anything with the lifters. once you spin the cam a few times the lifters will go up into the cups and will hold themselves there.
