If you're looking for a a complete setup that has been tested again and again, including on the engine dyno multiple times, our MS3 or MS4 cams will work very well. With either cams, it's meant to be a max-effort setup in a 346. We've tried the larger camshafts, and every time they gain 1-2 HP up top, sacrifice mid-range power, and move your peak TQ up 600 RPM! We tested them last month during five days of engine dyno testing, so we know exactly what works and what doesn't. We also tested some competitors' parts with different heads and cams, including a popular 205cc head on the market. You can see the results that were posted by Jason (screen name Jason 98 TA). All of the cams we offer can be considered "custom grinds" because we have ground them to our specs that have been more than proven. Just because we stock our cams does not mean that a "custom-grind" will do better. We took 20 different camshafts with us to the dyno last month. We will make recommendations for both cams and heads based on what you're looking to do with your car. We won't give you theories of what your cam or heads should do; we'll tell you what they WILL do.

Our MS4 will work great with a set of PRC stage 1.0 LS6 cylinder heads if you do not want to fly-cut. If you want to fly-cut, I would go with the PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads. The stage 2.5 5.3L heads made more HP (6 if I remember right) vs. the stage 1.0 LS6 heads. If you want to run the 5.3L heads, you could run our MS3 camshaft without fly-cutting the pistons. We can build the 5.3L heads to clear with our MS3 cam; just specify when you order. No matter whether you go 5.3L or LS6 heads, you can get the heads, cam, and hardened pushrods for $1,684.99 or $1,819.99 with the dual spring kit, respectively.

Feel free to give us a call, e-mail, or PM any of us with any questions or concerns. We'll be glad to answer any questions you may have.

FYI, look for a new stock bottom-end 346 heads/cam record at the LSX Shootout in Memphis. It will be with the MS4 and new PRC 215cc cylinder heads.

WERD...at some point these "off the shelf cams" were custom grinds....they just worked really well so they were mass produced...i would think.

Trick Flows are a proven performer. And they are competitve with TSPs prices. They have a 220 complete for around 1600-1700. Im not talking about the 5.3s. For going all out NA these will rock. Or look a TSPs LS6 new version for a budget head. If you want to go with them as a one stop shop and not deal with too many venders. They have a new line they have teased us with a little info on its offerings. Soon to be released so stay tuned.

LS6 heads seem to be the most popular choice but why? They seem to flow barley better than stock and the exhaust is the same? The lighter valves sure but i mean is it worth it to spend 400 on a set of them when you can spend a couple hundred more on a used set of nicer heads? Do they just work well with the ms3 or what? I would like some detail on this as I too intend on using the MS4 in the near future and am searching for the rite heads for me.

I say get some trick flows 220 heads .TEA or AI can install powder metal valve guilds to allow use of stock rockers.get the trunnion upgrade.try a T-rex or a big EPS cam.or get a custom cam so you don't have to fly cut.fast only makes 102mm intakes now, unless you find a used 92mm intake.you can use a fast 92mm TB on a fast 102mm intake.look at CHRSS1313 threads to copy a good engine combo.PRC 215/227 heads are a good choice to .

Gary (and everybody else too I guess), just an FYI....PRC can install powder metal guides in any head we offer including the aftermarket castings as well!

Yes, as long as the heads have stock valve and have not been milled, and you use the GM MLS gasket you are good to go.

As always, on these max effort camshafts we recommend checking your ICL (degreeing the cam) to ensure the valve events are where they were intended to be. Camshafts can be a few degrees off, timing chains can be off too, etc. You add up a few of those little tolerances and can get in trouble quickly. That responsibility is always on the end user and his installer.

WS6...keep in mind that unless you flycut your pistons out have an after market piston with valve reliefs, you cannot run the 237's and the MS4. We can however setup the 227's to clear the MS4 on a stock bottom end. The issue is the bigger valve on the 237's diminishing the clearance too much, and making already right clearances worse. The 227's also make the better combo because we can set them up with about a 61cc chamber size for the MS4 and stock bottom-end, so you get the compression you want and need for that sort of build. Feel free to let me know if I can help with anything on your build our any questions you might have

No sir, the MS4 and Stage 2.5 LS6's will not...you will need to flycut. We can however setup the MS3 to clear with the Stage 2.5 LS6's and 5.3L heads.
