Were you installing or removing? You need to make a guide to ensure you drill in the center if you drill. Also, can you rotate the broken piece at all with a screwdriver or something? Sometimes even though the bolt broke, they are easy to back out.
I was pulling the head off when it broke, i have the head off now but haven't tried backing the bolt out yet. Thanks for all the advise i will see what i can get accomplished tomorrow!

Take some vise grips and clamp down and back the bolt out
If the bolt is broke off down in the block .....
Get or borrow a mag drill it will make life way better. I wouldn't fool with an easy out. Like said about it's a huge PITA to get one of those out if you break it. Just as bad as getting a broken tap out. Find the right size tap and drill size, check the length and mark the bit like a depth gauge. Use some cutting oil or some lube to make the alum not gum the bit up.
