Re-camming my car
I currently have a 228/226 custom ground cam in my car. Since my car is no longer my daily driver I am wanting to throw in a larger cam. I made 380/373 with the custom cam with all bolt ons except for an underdrive pulley, which I'll be adding soon. I am wanting to hit 405-415rwhp with the next cam. I have been thinking about the MS3 or the VRX5 as my next cam. I can't find much info on the VRX5 though. I know I'm going to sacrifice low end power, but don't want to lose a ton of it as I'm on a 3.42 rear.
I haven't really kept up with what options are out there for the past year so give me some suggestions. Thanks

Why not keep the cam you got and look into some heads to gve you that leap to 400-405 hp. For the price of a cam swap and tuning, you would have paid for heads. Tuning only required to take full potential of the setup.
I'm installing the cam myself and plan on reusing my springs as they don't have that many miles on them. If I got heads I would want to get a cam that would match the heads well.
You dont need any more power...Dont go uping the competition of baddest ls1 in Florence lol...but seriously you might want to check out the Vrx5 (236/238 601/605) People have been making great numbers cam only on that
Yea, I'm interested in that cam, but I haven't seen any dyno results for it. I'm really not even that familiar with what all cams are available out there in the mid/high 230 range
I would strongly suggest the TSP 233/239 cam. I loved that cam only reason I am not running it now is that it was torn up by some failed lifters. Made plenty of power and sounded great.

That's one I am considering. I just don't want to make a quick decision and be disappointed once I get something installed. I'm open to suggestions
I have thought about that but pulling the heads isn't a very attractive idea. Not to mention I don't know who could port them around here.
if you are going all out drag car, trex or g5x3 cannot be beat...remember that means huge stall and small gears
if not and just a weekend warrior and dont wanna put a huge 240 duration cam in you are not going to gain much from a the swap if you aleady have a 228/226...maybe 5-8 hp not worth it in my opinion, for all the time and money...would get better gains with a fast 92/92...and keeping the cam you got...

243 heads - ported w/ Patriot dual springs
Comp Cams 228/232 .600/.601 111LSA cam.
Cost is under $1600
a cam is no good if your heads go turbulent at the RPM it needs. Do head work first. I promise. The LS1 can make 500hp with the correct head work/cam combo. And I'm talkin 241 heads. If a head porter tells you 241's cant flow over 300cfm, he blows, go to the next guy, mine flowed 290 with a valve job and blend alone. Then again, I DO know the right people.... lol
But seriously. Keep your cam. Do the head work. At least a VJ. Once you can flow at 7500 RPM, THEN you can make some real power.

Here's my next cam:
Lunati Voodoo 60512
232/238 .599/.601 113LSA
Nasty idle, doesnt slam the springs shut, makes a lot of under the curve power, and isnt that expensive. The 113LSA gives it a very unique sound. It seems to be right there in what you're looking for. While you;re at it, get a 2 piece timing cover from Edelbrock... It would take a considerable amount of time out of your next cam install... because none of us can have just one cam
