Default How much bore is possible with 6.0L block with stock crank?

I'm considering running a 6.0L motor with new pistons, rods, bearings, etc. with the stock crank and ported 6.0 heads. Will probably run domed pistons with valve reliefs for higher compression and a big cam. Do not want to spray on this motor - just NA. What is the biggest I can safely bore the block when running ~ 11.5:1 compression? Also, how many cubes will each size bore give me @ .030/.060/.090/.120?

I'm hearing a lot of different opinions on what can be safely done NA.

Thanks!

I just had MTI build me a N/A 427 6 liter ironblock this past winter and did a TON OF RESEARCH on this.

Here's your answer, plain and simple.

4.060 bore is a BIG as you can SAFELY go for N/A but you MUST make sure that the ironblock you have our bought, etc., gets sonic tested to make sure that there is enuff cylinder wall thickness, as many are not thick enuff for .060 overbore and therefore you have to play it safe and have it sonic tested. The sonic test may show that you can only go 4.040 overbore or 4.050. If you go .060 over there will be no room for a rebuild and if you want to leave room for a rebuild then stick with around 4.030. 4.030 is must often used for those going with F/I or Spray, etc.

GOOD LUCK!

Good question...

I've been thinking of doing a 6.0L stroker in the future myself. I will probably buy the block from Valve God.

What does it cost to get the block sonic tested? Are there any other tests a shop can do to make sure it's a good block to use?

Engine Sizes are
4.00 = 364.12
4.03 = 369.60
4.06 = 375.12
Cant go any bigger than that with just boring, I wouldnt go over 4.03 if it was my engine, just to keep the nice thick cylinder walls, and plenty of room to rebuild it if needed, and throw in a nice 4.00 crank and get a 408
