GM Performance HOT Cam Kit for 1997-2003 LS1 engines. 219/228 Duration @ 0.050, 0.525" valve lift with stock 1.7 ratio rocker arms.

Any opinions on this cam kit?

I'm looking for a bolt on cam that will give me a nice lope at idle with some decent power/torque gains, while still being very street-able. I'm not looking to replace heads, lifters, rocker arms, etc.. just valve springs if possible. Any suggestions are welcome!

I would go with the ASA cam from gm performance parts. It will do everything you asked for in your post.

I got one, its a good street cam not as strong as other cams but it gets the job done, it pulls hard from mid to top-end with the small combo that i have right now and its loud as hell when i floor it but at the end its up to u they are other cams out there that r better.
personally i love this cam and wouldnt trade it for anotherTMO

I remember reading many cam summary sheets that stated the ASA cam didn't idle well on the street at all.

Anybody have this cam to verify?

umm I do. Idles better than the tsp 233/239 cam and the cheater cam that I have used. But it is a very good cam for idle characteristics

It does however idle worse warm than it does cold which is weird, But I have a feeling that is in the tuning that I have tried doing.

The hotcam should be fine.

The ASA cam, at least back when it just came out, was listed to be a no-no for a daily driver, since it was more aggressive.

They may have changed them - I don't know, thats why I asked. I was basing it off of things I have read here, and at the other place...

GM ASA Cam 12480110 226/236 duration. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't they originally market this as the "Showroom Stock Racing Cam"

Could you upload a video or audio file so I could hear it at Idle? I searched youtube...and only came up with one or two vids..filled with noise.

That sounds amazing. Did you use LS6 valve springs and seals like in the hot cam kit?

Awesome license plate by the way. I got a laugh out of that.

I have the ASA cam, it idles just fine.

Mine sounded like Monsters when it was first installed, my tune actually has a smoother idle than his.
