Default My Polluter Firebird

Well it's been a bunch of long arduous months with lots of setbacks but finally...here it is. In the video below I'm running the new polluter cam with open headers so it's pretty loud. We just hooked up the bullet mufflers today and it sounds MUCH better. I'll update the video asap with the exhaust fully attached.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le3S1RF6JDs

Anyhow, I do have a one main concern. My oil pressure sits about 3/4 pressure at idle running 10w-30 conventional right now. That seems pretty high and was wondering what I could do to determine why it's running so high or if it's even supposed to?...Any suggestions? I am running the melling 10296 with the blue spring...maybe that's a culprit?

Conventional oil...
Go synthetic, that's what the car is meant to run.
That's your start.

Thanks for all the responses!

We got the bullets connected and finally got the car to idle steady at a good lopey 950 RPMs lol! It sounds very mean I'm still having a good ol' time figuring out how to drive this spec 3+ race clutch around. I've come to the conclusion that it takes lots of gas and quick release to avoid as much "chatter" as possible. The car is no longer very city driving friendly but it sure is a highway flyer. I'm not too worried about the oil pressure issue at this moment because the motor only has about 50 miles on it and the pressure will probably drop some once the bearings and pistons seat a little better. I should have some time to post the car video at steady idle with the bullets tomorrow. The cam resonates very loud and can be heard from blocks away

Sounds good. I got mine installed last weekend with a set of TFS heads. It's getting tuned this week. Curious, but why do you say the car is no longer very city driving friendly? Mine drives very well in the city and at the time was untuned. I also have the same clutch as you. Shouldn't have any chatter.

It's just getting used to the first gear take offs that I'm getting chatter. Once I'm in gear it's fine. I'm just not used to driving a race clutch and all my previous driving involved easing off the stock clutch pedal and giving very little gas. Again, this clutch is like brand new with my new fidanza flywheel and has almost no miles on it.

he just not used to driving a real clutch

i used to draily drive a Spec4 unsprung clutch in my 383 lt1, and i got so used to it that it just felt normal to me......i could feather it, leave on a hill, reverse no prob
then i sold it and started driving my RX7 with a stock clutch......a few months later i got the chance to drive my fbody again and i couldnt believe how much of an animal the stage4 clutch is......i was either stalling or spinning and couldnt leave smooth, simply because id spent a couple months getting used to the rx7 stock clutch, lol. even though i had previously daily driven it for years.

dont worry man, you will get used to that stage3 in a month or two and you will think its perfectly easy to drive.

ah ok gotcha. Fidanza flywheel is the aluminum one right? If so yeah, I can see you saying its a little bit rougher in the city now. I run a billet steel flywheel. Was going to get an aluminum, but after reading a lot and people saying you had to up the RPMs to get the car to move vs the billet I went billet. Of course this was like 5 years ago so things might have changed since then.

I think you will enjoy your setup. You will get use to it and jump into another car with a stock clutch and be like "WTF?" when you push the pedal down. I've done that many of times. lol

The Polluter sure has a great idle. What's the LSA? Any dyno estimates?
