Default Quieting Piston Slap?

Ok, let me start with YES I DID A SEARCH.

Now, is there anything that can be done to quiet piston slap down, because my tapping noise is retarded loud. I read a thicker oil, but no one said anything about what weight? I think I'm using 5w-30.

Anything else? I'm doing my exhaust so it will help cover up the noise (hopefully not make it louder).

I did have SOME piston slap until I switched to 10w30 oil. It has gotten significantly quieter and there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with the car engine wise. Maybe give that a try?

I run 10W30 year round and it's still pretty loud so I don't think there's a "quick fix" for it. My car does have nearly 63,000 miles and never any major problems so it's not a big concern either.

Callaway.

I'm using Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 (if I remember correctly), the oil looked really thin pouring it in.

I actually swapped to NON synthetic 10w40 oil and it has gotten a LOT quieter...With Mobil 1 5w30 it sounded like it was trying to come apart or something (when cold started)...very nerve racking IMO.

There is no fix.Period.
Its just the way the pistons are made.
I even had updated pistons put in by GM and still the same. Some cars a quieter than others.
If it made noise while at 200* I would be worried.
I'm using 0w30 for superior start up protection and best protection when at operating temp.

Warmed up at operating temp (210) it makes the noise, not retard loud, but noticable, working on a sound clip that shows the noise.

I dont think you under stand piston rattle vs valve train noise. if a piston rattles for a long period of time it will make its self worse. meaning it will crack. there is some much heat ontop of a piston that different viscosity's of oil will not help. LOL

well run mobil 5w-30 like the foctory recomends, and if it is a loose piston, they usually warm up in about the first 30 to 45 secods and stop rattleing. If it is valve train noise i guess ur stuck with it. millions of cars have it and they are still ticking.
