Holy ****! I feel dumber already with this heat soak bullshit. If you have a setup that needs to breath above 6800 RPM, there is no other option. The key is that the intake, heads and cam all need to be optimized to work together.
I can tell you this, the metal intakes the car slows down after the first pass bone cold. not so with our current setup. And we use a plastic intake at 7800 rpm, there are other options.
I dont think Wilson would tool up for composite carb style intakes if it werent that way

Well there you go, youve had real experience and track times. Thing is your running a no bullshit all out drag car, and Im sure the 6000 dollars of intake tests were but a fraction of the cash you have into your car. For me, who would be happy to run 11's, 2 tenths at $400/tenth just isnt cost effective. So if I can get an improvement over the LS6 intake for 400 bucks well thats fine, but to spend 1200 on a ported 90mm FAST just dosent make sense, for me anyway.
I agree. I drive a street car not a drag car so every tiny bit of HP was not important to me. No Need to spend that amount of cash on a FAST. I purchased a Typhoon 96 MM for $475.00 complete with fuel rails and gained a lot of HP over my ported LS2 and received more low and mid range torque then I would have received from the FAST. The FAST might get me a 10th or so more at the track, but WHO CARES . Launching!

You got me there on wordage! typing in a hurry makes you dumberer. It disapates heat faster... tranfering it fast to other stuff. Plastic doesnt dissipitate heat as well, its not transferring it as well - not radiating it whatever. THey dont make phenolic spacers out of aluminum, they make them out of plastic!

They make intakes out of composit material because it is much cheaper to make then forged intakes, not because it runs cooler or flows air better. My car has never been on a track but it spent hours on a dyno several times. NEVER had a issue when there was a loss of power due to heat soak. Even on the street. My IATs always stay in a comfortable zone.
I have only seen cast or welded sheetmetal ones.
