I'm talking piston to valve clearance and the like. Anybody got any other issues to consider.

PTV clearance can only be specualtion. This is one you have to check yourself if you really want the answer.

Im going to be checking my PTV soon when I install my L92s on my LQ9.

No idea on what cam I'd run. Do you have to have big reliefs cut into the pistons if you run a big cam? I'm just trying to get an idea of what this swap would entail.

I did it and wrote a post about it. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...am-10-80s.html It all comes down to what size cam you are going to run but I had real good luck with TSP 233/239 no issues with PTV clearance. I also have the valve notching tool from isky cams for L92 heads if you decide to go to a bigger cam.

It depends....

Honestly just plan to check it. Think ahead to 5 seconds before you start the engine back up, your going to be wondering if you should have really checked your PTV or not...How much is your gamble going to cost you if there is PTV clearance issues(time and money)? Versus taking an hour or so and checking PTV clearance and KNOWING.

Who knows the cam could be ground incorrectly, or the cam could get installed on the wrong centerline. If your not checking PTV I can be fairly sure your not degreeing in your cam either. Remember, these vavles are huge @ 2.16".

Also remember that L92s on a LQ4 shortblock will give you a compression ratio of about 9.15:1. I actually cc'd the reliefs in an LQ4 and calculated the compression of it with L92 heads once. Its going to be low compression.

Guys thanks for the replies. So a LQ4 with L92s would be great with a turbo with that low compression.

What bolts do you need to use to bolt L92 heads to a 2002 LQ4?

I'm using stock Head Bolts, TTY Bolts. I'm just NA, no spray and I've had no problems.
