Default L76 intake in F-body - MAP???

Hey folks,

I'm using an L76 intake on an L92-headed engine and am putting it in a 2001 Trans Am. I have a Katech #4751 MAP extension harness in hand but want to verify that I can just reuse my LS1 MAP and stick it in the front of the L76 intake.

It's my understanding that the LS3 MAP uses a different connector and (I may be dreaming this) that there is something a bit different about the LS3 manifold that won't allow you to simply put the LS1 MAP in the front of it.

So am I right... with the L76 intake, you can just move the LS1 MAP to the front with the extension harness I have? I can't figure it out from the Katech website.

Thanks!

This is what they did in the LS3 fbody install in GMHTP over the last 2 months. Left LS3 MAP to plug hole and needed to use the LS1 MAP relocated. Check the article, PN, and confirm, but I think the L76 MAP is the same as the LS3.

You are correct in that they left the LS3 MAP to plug the hole and tapped into a vacuum line for the LS1 MAP. However, it's my understanding that the LS3 MAP is a newer Bosch sensor with a different pinout, hence its problem being used, whereas the L76 is the older style (and there's something about the L76 manifold that allows the LS1/LS2/L76 MAP to be popped in place in the front, whereas the LS3 only lets the newer-style sensor to be utilized up front).

the l76 uses the clip on ls1 map sensor, the ls3 uses a bosch bolt on map sensor with a different plug. if you have an l76 you will just need the extension.

Caution on the Katech extention. Make sure the wires aren't crossed. Mine came with the wires incorrectly inserted to match the cars harness. Ls1 MAP should snap right in if you retained the orange grommet.

Yes, you can move the MAP sensor to the front of the intake and use the Katech extension harness.

For those of you using the LS3 intake with the newer Bosch sensor, we have an adapter for that too.
