L92 Setup Dilema F-Body

Default L92 Setup Dilema F-Body

I'm swapping an L92 engine in to my 1999 Camaro Z28. I have a set of AFR 225 big bore heads and a FAST 92 intake and TB setup, that I was going to use on an LS1 engine I was going to built for my Camaro. A few days ago I was able to get a great deal on a L92 engine out of 2007 Cadillac escalade. I have 2 possible setup options for my 6.2 engine. Please let me know which one of the 2 you prefer and why.

Option 1:
Ported L92 heads
GMPP intake carb style with 92mm TB

Option 2:
AFR 225 big bore heads (2.08 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves)
FAST Intake with 92mm TB

Option 2. Its a proven combo. The L-92 carb intake has not performed very well. Is it a street car or a race car? The Ls3 intake could also work. I'm in the process of bldg. a 6.2 motor with L92 heads, waiting for the Fast 102 to be released. In the mean time I'm going to run the L-76 intake. They seem to be a good steet intake making power to 6200 or so. How about the Edelbrock Victor Jr? I don't know if its released yet. Good luck with the build. The L-92 builds are making good power and lots of Torque, they are intake limited at this time.

get the edelbrock carb intake for the L92, it'll outperform the GMPP from what i've read and is in stock and shipping out now to certain shops.

i think i would go w #2 for more power but i think trying #1 first to see what you put down, and get it running then if wont sell the l92 setup and go w the other

The carb intakes loose way too much velocity to be effective without boost. Stick with the FAST.

get the l76 car intake like on the ls3, for the l92 heads thats whats were running

Thanks a lot for the great advice...

This will be a street car, I like driving the cars to the track and back home, if nothing brakes

I'm going to go with the AFR 225 heads and the FAST 92 setup (option 2) the L92 heads are awesome but like some of you guys have said, they are intake limited. I'll run this setup untill the FAST 102 setup comes out for the L92. As soon as I do this I'll post the results. Now what do I do about a CAM

I vote # 2. You have the AFR heads and the FAST 92 most people buy the l92 because they are cheap, that's not to say they don't perform, but they are much cheaper than most aftermarket heads, plus like you noted the intake isn't there yet.
