Default thermostat housing - which one to use?

My motor is out of an 08 Sierra, 5.3l.

Currently the housing exits upwards and with my hose, I have issues with it kinking or rubbing on the bottom of my intake tube, depending on what I do. I think it would be much better if it exited straight forward.

Is there another housing I could try?

Thanks!

Actually, do I need to replace the entire water pump then?

My bad, I just recently found that it's not hte housing I have to change, but I believe the water pump. The upper port, unless I'm mistaken, is part of the water pump. It's the upper port that I'm looking to change, not the lower. The lower works great with my radiator/setup.
