Default Clear lid comparision PICS: MTI vs FTP 100mm

Its pretty hard to take measurements, but I have the biggest point at 105mm. That is just the half inch where the 100mm MAF fits though. Best as I can read it, it looks really really damn close to 100mm through and through. Put it this way, I have bigger hands than most people and I can make my fist fit. I think that says a lot right there.

Overall, I think that bulge gives it the extra millimeters. That and they flared out the end just a bit more so a 100mm maf would fit in the end. I think the mouth on the inside is a little wider aswell. Another VERY important note is the MTI clear lids crack because it is a ridgid plastic. These FTP lids are flexible like Rubbermaid containers.

Awesome comparison I currently have the MTI clear lid and yes the cracking has begun I have been looking to replace it and I came across the Fast Toys lid and kept thinking about it since, after your comparison there is no doubt in my mind where the replacement lid will be coming from.

FTP=file transfer protocol? Not that these parts apply to me or anything, but they look insanely inexpensive to produce. Make sure you're not running an aftermarket maf on a stock tune...

Your probably right on cost, but you gotta pay to play. They have something people want and can jack up the price. That damn MTI lid costs $129 and is crap. I'd rather pay the little bit more for a bigger, much better quality lid. I do agree that $180 for a lid is pretty expensive though.

I would say its great on an LS2 and up. Mean LS1's too.

Thanks man! Start to finish on what? I've been at it for 3 years now. The car *should* be painted end of this summer. After that is easy stuff, but more very expensive stuff. Things like the wheels, rear end, nitrous, suspension...ect.

looks to me its traped in the middle, much less than 100mm, i would say 90mm in the middle.

then no point of buying it.

Just a quick note to let everyone know we are bringing these back for a very limited production run. Details are in the sales & sponsors forums!

I'm going SD as well and can not justify drilling my FTP(black) lid for the iat. Might have to drill the maf delete tube and stick it there.

My ftp 104 rubbed my ws6 hood, and cracked in multiple places. I love the clear lids I just bought and put a new slp lid back on. I wish the clear lids could be like the slp.

OP nice comparison pics. Can't believe I haven't came across this thread before since it's an older thread.

FWIW someone on facebook did a Fast Toys lid vs a SLP lid on a 85mm MAF and the Fast Toys lid produced 2 HP more. Not sure of engine specs.

The FTP lids are intended for more highly modified engines that have maxed out the flow of the stock MAF and require either the 85 or 100mm MAF. If you put it on an otherwise stockish engine, the gains are going to still be there but much smaller as the engine doesn't need the extra flow at that point.

We are looking into producing another batch of clear lids so keep your eyes on the other thread in this forum. We will be posting a link to pre order shortly.
