Default Refinishing a FAST intake

Has anyone refinished a FAST LSx intake. I was thinking about grinding off logo smoothing and powdercoating. Anyone see any problems with this?
Thanks

I've seen some pics of painted/smoothed FAST's. If you are careful there shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, a lot of people do it. They are pretty thick, so you shouldn't have any issues.

here's my old one, i shaved the "wilson" logo but left the FAST. The rest of the intake was smoothed and painted. I'd say half the people that buy FAST's shave/smooth/paint them

I want to POR-15 mine black. I had a thread on it but most said don't. I don't see why not it is basically a poor man's powdercoating.

It can be done, but make sure to use someone with a good reputation that has done it before. There is one or two sponsors on this site that do it. You have to use a technique they call "hot flocking" if i remember right because of the FAST's polymer construction, but it CAN be done with very nice results.

I've powder coated dozens of FAST manifolds at this point. I can shave the lettering, or do it in an accent color, either way.

Here's my intake gallery on my site, plenty of pics of both FAST and LS6 manifolds.

The process to coat these correctly just takes practice and skill, that's about it.

Thanks PowderPro your work is beautiful!
Do you take the electronic guts out of throttle bodies before PCing?
I was looking at my LS7 OEM TB and doesnt look that easy to remove TAC motor and rheostat.
Also on brake calipers, do they need to be disassembled for PCing
Thanks again for your input

Yup, I totally take apart TB's before coating them. I haven't done an LS7 yet. I know what you mean about some of those electronics..GM does different stuff. I have taken apart C5 drive by wire TB's several times with no problems. I bought a stock trailblazer SS one to mess with, and I can't find a way to get the throttle shaft out without breaking the plastic DBW gears.

Yes, I totally diss-assemble calipers for coating, then put them back together. The internals would survive the heat, but trying to mask around those items is not the clean and proper way to prep and coat them.
