Default Victor Jr problem !!!

guys
i have built up chevy camaro With 408 C.I.D

the car is ,,
Crank 4
Piston 4.030 -15
heads 59 Patriots
Camshaft int ext int ext Lope
238 244 605 612 112

with Ls1 intake and fuel injector 30
we run the car in Dyno maffless
and we had 460 RWHP
then because the car has been built for nitrous ,,
we change the intake to Victor JR + fuel injector 42
we run it in the dyno and we had 430 RWHP !
which is we lost 30 RWHP on dyno jet ,, ! same tuner same dyno ,, same weather
any body got any ideas ! ,, is it because the Victor JR is big ?
or bad ? i though there was a Air leak in the intake ,,
but when i drive the car with V JR
its smoth ,,, like there is nothing wrong with it ,,,
but when you Drive it !! its like a normal car ! i cannot feel any horse power ,,,
any ideas whats wrong with it ?

it looks like it requires a retune

you are right
we did re-tune it ,,
but i mean with the same tuner ,,
AFR was 12.9
we couldnt get any extra horse power from the Victor JR
we jumped with the injector because we thought we will reach 500 RWHP up to 540 RWHP
and we have built the same engine ,,, which is the numbers with the engine piston crank engine compression are all okkay ,, ,
but the funny thing is ,, with the Ls1 intake and injector 28 or 30 ,,
we had 460 RWHP ,. and when you see a number like that ,, then you go for something better then the LS1 intake ,, and you get 430 ,, this is a shock man ! ,, i really dunno what to do ,, ! if any one got any ideas i will be very greatfull

Hopefully the cam experts will chime in - I suspect the cam is not optimal for the intake. I seem to remember single plane manifolds like more valve overlap/less LSA. 108 LSA seemed to be a target.

Maybe get Patrick G to spec a cam for you. In any event, you give up mid range torque for high end power when the system is optimized.

What kind of throttle body does it have? Does the intake have an elbow on it? If so, they are the kiss of death for the Victor Jr intake. They kill airflow and horsepower. Of course, I'm not a big fan of the Victor Jr unless they are heavily ported. The CSA is too small for big power upstairs and the runners are too short for good power down low. It's a lose, lose deal. An intake elbow only makes it worse.

The Super Victor intake on the other hand is badass! You just need a badass engine to justify it though. Let us know about the throttle body arrangement.

We swapped out the stock LS2 intake for a FAST 92 intake and picked up more horsepower than we were expecting to, on the build at this link.

We went from 809 rwhp to 864 rwhp! Bob

Get rid of the elbow and put an Accufab 4 BBL on there and it will wake up to the tune of about 60 extra hp.

guys i wanna jump into conclusion
1st of all
after the car got 460 in LS1 manifold
and with Victor jr 430 RWHP
which is dropped 30 RWHP
what we will do me and Navy
swapping the Victor jr with my Ls2 intake ( corvette )
and see what will happen ,, if the RWHP goes up ,, means 2 things ! ,,
our NEW VICTOR JR got Crack ,, or it drop horse power on 408 Camaro

but the question is ,, assuming that we shoot nitrous on Ls2 or Ls1 200 Wet shoot
if the car gave us 480 RWHP + 200 dry nitrous i think it will hit 700 RWHP
but With Victor JR
430 RWHP ,, if we shoot it with wet Nitrous ( it will Cool the Victor Jr )
will i get more then 700 RWHP ? or less ?
i dunno how will Victor Jr work with Nitrous ,, so this is my next question ,,,
hope i will get the answer for it

thanks for helping guys

The elbow is killing the air flow and the runners on the vic jr. just aren't optimal in your case which is why the LS1 intake worked so much better. As someone else mentioned if space allows it take the elbow off and top it with a accufab carb style throttle body. I bet you see close to 475hp that way. Elbows are really only really usable in Forced Induction cases.

You could also try a fast ported 92 but they have their limits also when it comes to boost.
