Default 08 Z06 kooks long tubes and corsa install with pics

So here is a customers ride. He wanted it louder, faster etc. After the summer season is over he is coming back for a supercharger. He would like it to be 650hp at the motor. The set up is fairly mello under 3500 rpm. Get over that and it gets nasty!

Kooks makes some nice stuff. Fitment is supurb

the rear pipes hung loosely. FYI if you loosen the rear cradle bolts then it is easier to remove the stock mufflers.

you have to move the trans cooler lines a little and wrap them in heat protectant material. You will also need to remove the oil feed and return lines to fit the header up in. Both go in from the bottom and fit very well.

Plug access is as good as stock

The parts all fit very well. On this car you did not need the extenders for the front O2 sensors. On the rear sensor wires I added 2 loom retainers to the existing bolts for the floor pan brace. This kept the O2 wires from falling down on the cats.

Wow. That looks great! Glad to hear the install went without a hitch. Hell from the pictures the look easy to install.

kooks claims on their web site that you can install the headers in 1 hour. We have a well equiped shop and work on vettes all the time and it took us 1 1/2 hours just to get the manifolds and cats out of the car. The whole install took 4 hours so It actually wasn't that hard. unfortunately the vid we took for the sound didn't come out.

Do you happen to know which corsa system the cust. got?

You mentioned it is mellow under 3500... is this because you felt the power increase should of been more (1 7/8= top end bias) or maybe cause of the Z06 tall gears, it's just not as punchy as, for example, a closer ratio Z51 c6?

It was the sport model with the quad tips. I was saying the tone was mello down low even with the smaller cats and long tubes. It doesn't resonate going down the highway or driving normally. You definately see a difference from 4500 7000 rpm. It pulls very hard up top. Throttle response up over 4500 is very crisp as well. The sound under load at top end is great. Sounds like a performance car should.
