Bad Vibration....help!
When the car is parked and in Neutral, I rev it up to 1700RPM and the entire car shakes. Anything above or below and it runs smooth. What could this be? Motor or clutch problem? And when I say shake, I mean it sounds like the motor mounts arnt even there.
Also, on the highway, I get oen nasty vibration at about 85 to 95 then smooths back out at 100. It seems if I put it in neutral at speed, it goes away somewhat. The vibration almost has a rythem, its not constant. Im lost....

if its shaking in the 80mph zone why are you going 100mph....safety issue?? Definetly check the motor mounts sometime the rubber compound seperates from the metal and the bolts could be jumping around in the mount causing knocking.
check all the above replys and see what you get. I just got done workingon a friens car that had the identical proplem but the vibration was coming in at 2400 rpms. After alot of checking, pinion angle, pulleys, clutch, etc..we narrowed it down to the harmonics of the exhaust. We chage the mufflers and welded a flat bar between the duals, and now its gone.
Whats up man! I know you from another board we both use...
Anyways,,, im fightin this same damn thing in my 2000 TA M6. Mine has a vib in any gear or neutral between 1800 to 2500 rpms... so bad the steering wheel will shake.
It seems that once i put in my 12 bolt with 410's, the vib hasnt become worse, but is deffiently more noticable when driving, remained the same in neutral,,, im leaning towards my flywheel or something clutch related. I get alot of mixed answers, some will tell me it has nothing to do with my clutch, others tell me its deffinatly the clutch.
Either way, i have to replace my Slave and TO bearing so while im in there, im dropping the clutch and hopfully can get the FW resurfaced and the whole unit balanced. Praying that takes care of it. Clutch is up there in miles, but works great (Spec 3) and since im a cheap ***, i cant really spend the money for a new clutch at this point. some have mentioned my crank pulley, but i really dont see any heavy wobble to it, so if the clutch stuff dosnt do anything for me, that will be my next route.
Good luck with it man, mines been driving me crazy and not making my car any fun to drive for 4 years now.
