Default Race prep of LS blocks at ERL

I just got back from visiting my friend Steve at ERL Performance, if you want a killer, 1500hp capable LS block, give him a call. The work they are doing there is out of this world. They add strengthening webs to the blocks, add in their new linres, line bore and deck the block and have produced some of the strongest factory blocks I have seen. Check out his web site. www.erlperformance.com

Very much so, I was there last week, they have a new 35,000 sq ft manufacturing building. If you have trouble getting hold of them I can get you their phone number. Steve is a close friend on mine. They have been working some real interesting new projects so I assume they are working late nights.

They machine out the steel cylinder liners and the thin cast aluminum webs between the exhaust side and the intake side of the block at the top of the cylinder liners, then the weld in strengthing plates, about 1/4" thick and about 2 " tall, remachine the block to accept the new stronger cylinder liners, heat treat and final machine the block (deck, line bore, etc) ending up with an aluminum block that can take a great deal of HP. That is a high level over view of their process, but give them a call, the end product looked very strong and they have quite a few racers runing their products with a very good rep. They started doing this with the Honda drag guys a number of years ago, and you know those guys put a lot of turbo boost on those little motors, and ERL has transfered that technology to the LS series of aluminum engines.
