Is it crazy to run cats on an LS7 swap?
Is it crazy to run cats on an LS7 swap? Just wondering if I'm nuts for thinking about putting Cats on my LS7 swap?
I was hoping it wouldn't kill HP *too much* on a 580rwhp build. I want to keep the smell of gas down, and I probably wouldn't complain too much if it helped keep the noise level a little more sane during frequent driving.
My concern is that it would have the pungent smell that my buddies 466rwhp LS2 has with Kooks long tubes and no Cats.
Thoughts on this?

Like the above poster said, as long as you use a high flow cat you won't even notice them. I used Kooks catted y-pipe with my setup because I wanted to cut down on rasp from my Borla exhaust and keep it completely legal. I believe Kooks uses Magnaflow cats so that's what I would go with. I'm making more power with the same mods than a lot of other people are with an ORY.
glad to hear you say that! at least I know I'm not crazy. Me and my buddy are at odds on the topic because he's always smelled the fumes on any built car, and I've never smelled the gas smell on any of my built motors!
even more odd is that his car is tuned,....SD tuned, by a reputable shop on this board.
