if u can turn the bolt six or so rounds put an air gun on it and there is no pin to line up. theres 7 or 8 teeth that turns the oil pump.

ok listen up. the balancer looks fully seated to me.

here is my old balancer:

as you can see from the rust, it didnt go all the way against the seal like some people thought.

here is what my balancer looks like when it's off the crank:

heres what it looks like on:

on the old balancer the portion from the rust to the end of the balancer is 3/4 inches. on the new balancer looks starting from the end, where it moves up to the larger portion, that is the same part as the stock balancer turning into the spoked portion and it does not seat all the way either.

looks like it's on to me. i kept cranking on it until it just wouldnt go any further. on an sbc or bbc like im used to, i know what to look for, but i don't on this engine. now you know.

Those last pics helped ALOT. I see what you are saying. The new balancer has a step on it. In the first pic of the thread, with bad lighting, it doesn't look like the balancer is even into the timing cover/seal.

With that being said..... If the belts look aligned, I'd try it. Or if you are the " ****" type (like me ) mark the new balancer where it goes into the cover and lay both balancers hub up and compare your line with the marks on yer old balancer. I am beting its on completelt or damn close.

Like I said before. Your complete pic of the new balancer shows the a step on the hub that wasn't visible on the threads 1st pic.
