budget FI LS2 Ideas?????????

Default budget FI LS2 Ideas?????????

Im starting to think about another motor for my 2000 C5. Nothing particular because my motor is still running ok, but you know how that goes.

Im thinking I want to reuse my AFR 205 heads, FAST 90/90, and Kooks 1 5/8 headers. I love the cammed car sound, but also want to add forced induction. My AFRs are milled .020 off, so Ill have to reduce some compression with my pistons.

Im not looking for anything over the top, but something around 550 RWHP and Torque.

I talked to a couple guys, and they think I should grab a short block off a sponsor, and build on top of that.

Throw me some ideas and cost of your set ups

Or without forging, how are the LS6 motors holding up with a procharger?

LS6 crates are under $5500 now

I wouldn't run FI without forged pistons at least. You can get away with the stock crank. Sell the 205's and pickup something like 317 heads.

Lots of stock bottom end budget builds boosted to 550 whp safely but once you have boost I dont think you'll sit at 550 for very long. I'd do as your friends suggest and get a decent longblock and go with your current parts although a custom cam might be in order to maximize it all. If you want to use your AFR's over again just match up the piston selection accordingly so you get optimal boost friendly compression. 550 will be a cake walk for you regardless thats a very low goal for a boosted LS1

Why not get a HKE SB and sell your heads and get some 317's and offset some of the SB cost....
